One Great Day
Swoosh, swoosh, down
If you want to know what 2000-3000m of quality MTB descent feels like in a single day then this is the one for you… Like we say, one GREAT day!
What goes up must come down but you need to go up first… That’s why we have custom bike adventure transportation to carry your pride and joy to the top of up to three amazing trails (or, in a few cases, as near as humanly possible to the top) so you will have plenty of energy to swoosh your way down with your friends all in one great day. Bike shuttle.
This is a great option if you have never used uplift before to get the most out of riding your bike downhill, a bit like taking a chair in a ski resort to maximise your actual skiing time. We guarantee you’ll like it but we can’t guarantee you won’t want more…

1 might be less than 2
but it will be more than you think…

Support Vehicle
We will provide transport for up to eight riders and their bikes in a safe and efficient manner.
The vehicle will then collect all of the group at the bottom or finish area of the trails in order to transport to the next riding location or back to your accommodation. Bike shuttle.
We will also be on hand if you have any difficulties with your bikes or riders.
All transport vehicles will carry bike repair tools, bike gubbins, a comprehensive first aid kit, staff who know how to use it and who have all the necessary local knowledge and contact information should something go off-plan. Shuttle pyrenees.
One great day, two great options

Got questions?
Pallars here I come! Wait... how do I book?
Booking a trip is easy!
Simply get in touch to give us some information about your group and the dates you would like to ride. We will respond as soon as possible with the availability of those dates.
It would also be very helpful if you could include the aspirations of the group in terms of level of difficulty and type of trails you would like to ride. Some additional info on bike handling and fitness level of the group would benefit in making sure we match the level of all riders for those days in order to maximise the enjoyment for everyone.

Well who are you? Who Who? I really wanna know!
Marc Burnat Clemente
Originally from the Barcelona area, Marc decided at a young age that the beach wasn’t for him and so headed towards the Pyrenees mountains instead. That decision shaped the rest of his life and Marc has spent most winter seasons since then as a ski instructor in various parts of the Pyrenees and Chile and for many summers has been involved in organising mountain biking adventures in the Aran valley and Pallars areas.
A passionate mountain biker (with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Pallars area) and lover of all things outdoors, Marc always wanted to share the incredible enjoyment that the area of Pallars has given him over the years but wasn’t sure how.
MTB Pallars is how…
Paul Prentice
From the sunny climes of Scotland, Paul has been riding mountain bikes for way longer than he would care to admit and whilst his former local riding area of Innerleithen and Glentress couldn’t be further in nature from the terrain in Pallars area, the sheer variety of riding and the huge descents here have him constantly excited to ride in a way that feels like he has just experienced mountain biking all over again!
Paul first met Marc at the top of La Forestal trail on L’Orri and they rode this amazing trail together, (some 11.7km long and 1700m descent!). He couldn’t believe there wasn’t a dedicated mountain biking adventures company based in the area. So he and Marc decided to start one!
MTB Pallars is a registered company in Spain and the holder of the Catalan Cycling Federation certification, which oversees standards and safe practice when guiding groups biking in the Pyrenees mountains. This assures you that we meet the highest standards in current mountain biking practice and procedures.
What type of helmet do I need?
Helmet
A helmet is an absolutely essential item of mountain biking kit and wearing one is mandatory to ride with us.
Many guests choose to use a traditional half-lid cycling helmet which is appropriate for backcountry riding, however for more aggressive downhill riding it is recommended that guests use a full-face helmet for added protection in the event of a heavy fall onto the face.
In any case your helmet must be certified to EN1078 standard at least. MTB Pallars staff will refuse to accompany any rider who is not wearing an appropriate mountain bike helmet that fits well, is in good condition and is showing no clear signs of damage.
What personal protection should I bring?
Eyewear
Please ensure you wear either sunglasses/prescription glasses that have been designed for cycling or sport. Lifestyle glasses are not suitable. Goggles are a great option for added protection from dust.
Gloves
Suitable biking gloves are a good idea for protection against cuts and grazes in the event of a fall. We would recommend wearing them.
Protective Pads
Whilst forearm-elbow and knee-shin pads are not usually seen as an essential item of mountain biking kit, MTB Pallars strongly recommends the use of, at least, knee pads. Protective pads are proven on a regular basis to reduce the potential severity of external wounds and can also reduce the likelihood of broken bones in the event of an accident.
Do any hotels offer safe bike storage in the area?
Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation options throughout the Pallars region to choose from. However, we recommend the following hotels for their cycle-friendly facilities and locations. Each hotel has a minimum of somewhere to clean and securely store your bike.

What if I need to replace damaged or worn parts of my bike on the trip?
Currently there are very few bike shops in the Pallars area. We recommend you bring spares of the likely things you may need such as a spare set of brake pads, spare inner tube, spare tyre, mech hanger, brake lever etc.
We can get most spares around the area, but it might save time if you managed to bring some spares of your own that you may end up needing.
When's the best time to bike in Pallars?
The best time to visit the Pallars area to ride mountain bikes is from May to around October however July and August could be hot and may get busier with the August holiday period.
September is also a great option to enjoy this superb environment almost to yourself. Depending on how far away from this Pyrenean paradise you are, flights into Barcelona are easy, cheap and plentiful and with only a 2 1/2hr transfer, it is easily feasible as a long weekend destination where you can maximise your riding time instead of waiting in a queue!
What else can you tell me about Pallars?
The northernmost area is called Valls d'aneu, it borders France and also the Aran Valley. A little further south is the town of Llavorsi, perhaps better known for its Noguera river for rafting.
From Llavorsi we access two more valleys in the region; The Vall de Cardós and the Vallfarrera, the latter better known for its access to the Pica d'estats (3143m) which is the highest peak in the Catalan Pyrenees.
The final area, further south, is set around the town of Sort with its great Pic del Orri mountain which just happens to be the starting point for one of the longest mountain bike descents in the area, La Forestal, a single-track descent down to Sort some 11.7kms and 1700m below!
I have a unique & special question!
